Tarnished silver bowls, silverware and teapots are transformed into whimsical creatures, people, and sculptures.
Patricia Rose designs her sculptures from recycled and re-purposed items. She draws inspiration from many sources including her love for history, humor and human nature. Her mixed media sculptures will be celebrated on Friday December 13, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 9p.m. during Arts! Arcata, and will be on display for the entire month of December at SCRAP Humboldt. SCRAP Humboldt is located in the SOSA (South of Samoa) Neighborhood of Arcata at 101 South H street.
A clever assembly of unique materials, makes Patricia Roses’ sculptures truly one of a kind. Rose “loves to collect old silver, rusty odds and ends and other semi-worthless objects and then take a lot of time and thought to create each sculpture.” With a love for vintage, repurposed and antique items, Rose breathes fresh life into forgotten or discarded items.

What does 7 tons look like?
One elephant can weigh 7 tons.
We have diverted over an elephant’s weight in materials from the waste stream.
In August 2012, we became an official sponsored project of SCRAPin Portland, Oregon. It is at that time, that we began documenting each donation we receive by recording the weight and material type. This means that 7 tons of (re)usable materials have been donated to SCRAP Humboldt in a little over a year.
Donations come from local businesses, nonprofits, manufacturers, educational institutions and individuals. To see a list of materials we accept for donation click here.
Together we can keep usable materials out of the waste stream and get them into the hands of local artists, teachers, entrepreneurs, nonprofits, businesses, and community members.
